5 Powerful Prayers to Strengthen the Hearts of Our Teachers

DAY 4 OF 5

Hearts of Purpose

“I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast.” Eric Liddell, the Flying Scotsman, sensed the call on his life to serve the Lord as a missionary to China. In the movie Chariots of Fire, when his sister Jenny voiced her concerns that he was not living out his purpose in ministry, he responded, “God made me fast and when I run, I feel His pleasure.” Head back with arms flailing, Eric broke the tape, winning the gold medal in the 400 meters and setting a new Olympic record. He did go on to live out his purpose for many years as a missionary teacher in China. God has created each of us with a purpose, and for many faithful men and women this purpose includes serving in the vital role of teacher.

As we continue to pray powerful prayers to strengthen the hearts of our teachers, we trust God to remind them in days of celebration and in days of struggle to fix their eyes on the goal of walking in the purpose for which God has created them.

Praise our God of Purpose

“…great are Your purposes and mighty are Your deeds.”  Jeremiah 32:19

God, we recognize that as our Creator, Your thoughts, ways, and purposes are beyond our ability to comprehend them. Your purposes are great, and Your deeds are mighty.

Pray for Hearts of Purpose

Acts 13:36 reads, “For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep.”

Lord, You have created each teacher with great purpose. In times of discouragement and questioning, remind them of their gifts, their calling, and the difference they are making in the lives of countless students and families. May they surrender their wills to You daily and experience the joy of fulfilling Your purpose in our generation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
