How to Be a Christian in Your Work and Society?

DAY 7 OF 7

What’s driving your life?

What impresses your friends and coworkers the most? Is it failure, poverty, or bankruptcy? Is it fear, depression, and anger? Is it deception, division, and desperation? My answers are no, no, and no way.

Every employee is generally looking for a good job with security, decent wages, and a positive work environment. It’s human nature to want good news and not bad news. Jesus was a bearer of good news for the sincere and bad news for the liars, power mongers, and religious hypocrites.

Jesus promised, “‘The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.’” (John 10:10, NKJV) I’m convinced that the message, example, and power of Jesus are needed more now than ever before. The world seems to be coming off its hinges. I’m concerned about the future. I’m praying for our nation, and I’m praying against the threat of COVID-19. We Christians have the power of influence only when we bring the Good News. We have influence only when excellence, blessings, and love are driving our lives.

The Bible says that “‘By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.’” (John 13:35, NIV) They will also know us by our good works: “‘In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.’” (Matthew 5:16, NIV)

I encourage you to display excellence, love, and peace. Build the best schools, hospitals, sports teams, and businesses. Help others through compassion. Build long-term relationships with tons of authenticity. “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.” (Ephesians 4:15, NIV)

I simply pray that God blesses you, making you an excellent blessing to others. You are a miracle!
