FOCUS ON THE PROMISE

Story

While Mike was still in a coma, I would sit in his room and talk to him, pray, or speak with whoever was in the room. This one day I went in all the machines were going off. His numbers were terrible, and the doctors started to give adverse reports. After the nurses quieted the machines and the doctors left, I reached over to Mike and reminded him that he would not die but live. Just as straightforward as you are reading this, I heard the Spirit of God tell me, "DeeDee focus on the Promise and not the Process." I asked Him to repeat Himself because I felt like that was what I was doing. So, He repeated it, "Focus on the promise and not the process." It took me a few minutes to understand why He was telling me that. He told me to read Mark 5 in which I did later. I left out that room more convinced than ever that my husband would live and not die. Jesus knew if I stayed there too long looking and listening to all of the negativity, it would have caused me to quit. So, He prepared me for another day by telling me to see what He had promised me and take my eyes off the Process my husband would go through.

Lesson

The word that God gave me was not just for me. All believers must learn to focus on the promises of God and not the Process. When reading Mark 5, it became clear to me that God wanted me to see the story of Jairus. Jairus was focused on what he wanted Jesus to do for him, and that was to go to his house and lay hands on his daughter so she could live. That was established as soon as he talked to Jesus by the boat. Well, on the way, they ran into a distraction: the woman with the issue of blood. The stop was not a distraction for Jesus, but it was for Jairus. The woman started to tell her whole story to Jesus while Jairus' daughter was at home dying. After a few moments in, the men from Jairus' home came and said, leave the master alone because your daughter is dead. Our focus must go to what happened after these men said that in verse 36, "As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid; only believe." Jesus grabbed those words immediately. My spirit leaped when I read this. Jesus didn't allow those words to penetrate the ear gate of Jairus because He knew if he would have started to doubt in his heart, then his daughter would not have been made whole. You may ask how? Read what Jesus said to the woman with the issue of blood in verse 34 of Mark. He said it was her faith that made her whole, not the touch. We touch Jesus with our faith. We must remain focused on what we want with our faith. Keep believing that you receive regardless of how things appear. Jesus is in your tomorrow today, and if you allow Him to help you focus on what's most important, it will keep you in faith. 

Faith Principle 

Declare your end. See where you want to go and keep your eyes fixed. There will be a lot of things calling for your attention.

Challenge 

Write out the victory that you envision at the end of this faith fight. Take off the limitations on your imagination and disregard what the facts say about your situation. Focus on what you are going to and not on what you are going through.
