Send Someone Else
Moses was looking for a way out of what God was calling him to do. He expresses his fears that his people, the Israelites, would not believe God had spoken to him. God tries to help Moses out with his insecurities by giving him the ability to perform three miraculous signs, showing that God was with him.
However, Moses's insecurity ran deep. Even with these miraculous signs, he didn't believe he was the right man for the job. He then begins to remind God of his physical limitations, which appear to be a speech impediment. At this point, God seems to be a bit frustrated with his stubbornness, and he reminds Moses that he is still God, and he will help him speak and teach him what to say.
Once again, Moses pleas with God. "Please send someone else." God makes a compromise and promises that his brother Aaron could be his partner and speak on his behalf. I wonder if the journey of the Israelites would have looked different if Moses had taken the entire mantle of leadership God was ready to give to him? Moses allowed his insecurity to limit what he could do when God had already told him that he would take care of those limitations.
Daily Challenge: Are your feelings of insecurity limiting what you believe God can do in your life? Have you made room for God to do the miraculous in your life by helping you overcome your limitations? Never limit your potential because of your insecurity.
