Real Hope: Courageous FaithSample
Stepping Out
Deploying spies, crossing rivers, building a memorial of faith, consecrating his men, marching around cities, executing military strategies, defeating 31 kingdoms – these were the tasks that lay ahead of Joshua when God encouraged him to be strong and courageous. You don’t have to look too far to see why God felt the need to encourage him. We can safely assume there were many challenging occasions where Joshua had to recall these words of God spoken over his life.
In this journey of faith, there are moments that require us to step out of our comfort zones in order to take ground and claim the promise of God over our lives. I recall having numerous moments of fear and doubt when I felt God asking me to step out of my thriving engineering career and enroll in a full-time Bible college. As a then 25-year-old migrant living in Sydney, I had worked extremely hard to get to the position I was in, and now I was faced with leaving it all behind to travel along an unknown, unfamiliar and eventually life-changing path. There were many challenges, obstacles and difficulties, and claiming the promise of God over my life kept me on course. It still does to this day!
Has God asked you to take a step of faith? Do you have doubts and fears? How is it all going to work out? What happens if I fail? Is the path ahead unknown and untravelled? Be strong and courageous! Take heart, for greater is He who is in you, than he who comes against you.

About this Plan
The Christian life is not easy. It’s messy. It calls for us to be ‘in the world but not of the world’. This devotional theme is intended to challenge. It is intended to ask you to take stock of how you’re running the race marked out for you. In a world that is increasingly opposed to faith, how can we continue to stand courageously in its midst?
