DAY 13 OF 20

Have you ever lent someone a helping hand — literally? Maybe you dragged them to their feet after a fall. Maybe you gave them a piggyback ride when they were too tired to walk, carried their stuff when they were injured, or did some extra chores around the house when your parent was working long hours. Even when it's hard work, it feels pretty good to help someone we love when they're in need, right? But if the people we need help day after day, for a long time, let's be honest. Helping them can be pretty exhausting.

If you've ever felt tired or sick of helping someone who's in need, you're not a bad person. You're a normal person. Caring for other people physically or emotionally can get really exhausting. And if we don't take care of ourselves while we're taking care of others, it can leave us feeling tired, angry, and bitter. That's why it's so important to make sure you're always getting filled up so you can continue pouring out. Your strength is limited, but God's isn't. Today, spend time getting filled with new strength from your Creator so you can turn around and be strong for someone who needs it.

How do you need God to be strong for you today? Who can you be strong for?

About this Plan

With You

Friendship might feel easy when life is easy, but it gets more complicated when your friends are hurting or struggling. What should you do? What should you say? What should you not say? When our friends need help, there are no easy answers, but in this 4-week devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll see what Scripture invites us to do when others are grieving, lonely, in need, or feeling hopeless.
