This chapter could have fit into our grace or love theme in addition to blood. Verse 9 says we are justified by Jesus’ blood. That means the damage that was done to our relationship with God was reversed by Jesus’ death. The chapter goes on to say that through Jesus’ death, all can be made righteous.

Every benefit we receive by having a relationship with God comes through Jesus’ death. Without His death, we are God’s enemies. God still loves those who are His enemies, but that love can never include forgiveness for sin, or the gift of the Holy Spirit, or the many other things received by those who have trusted in Jesus’ blood for their salvation. Are you an enemy of God or His friend? If you have never trusted in Jesus’ blood for the forgiveness of your sin, today would be a great day to do that.
