Old Church Basement: Returning to Simple WorshipSample
USED TO THIS
Minutes turning into hours
Doesn't really matter
I just want You
You're the only One I'm after
Spirit come in power
I just want You
Our culture moves at a faster pace than any other society in history. For better or worse, most minutes and hours are filled with noise from the outside world.
We carry around devices that constantly demand our attention. With every notification, our hearts and minds are drawn to things that may not actually be the most important thing.
In our clamor to be all-knowing and always connected, many of us have lost touch with some of life's most important things.
Our priorities are skewed because our attention is divided. But it was never supposed to be this way.
We miss the mark when we replace God’s presence with things that we think will satisfy. Our sin and selfishness hinder us from fully experiencing the power that is available to us through the Holy Spirit.
Instead of hurry and worry, you were created to be the fragrance and aroma of Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:15) You were made to be an overflow of God's glory and presence to the world around you. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
But you can't fulfill your true purpose without intentional time alone with God.
You have direct access to the almighty, all-powerful, all-knowing God. He is full of everything you need.
Imagine how your life might change if you committed regular time to draw close to Him, get quiet, and listen for His voice.
You might find that your perspectives begin to change.
Your countenance gets a little lighter.
Your worship becomes deeper.
Hope and light might begin to appear.
Maybe all we need to do to get a taste of heaven here on earth is to draw closer to the One who holds the keys.
It all starts with honest, intentional time with the Lord.
It doesn't have to be perfect or complicated but start today. Find a quiet place. Read some scripture, maybe play some worship music or just sit in silence.
Talk to your Father, and then ask Him to speak.
