Moving Mountains

DAY 5 OF 6

Day 5: Moving Mountains

2 Corinthians 3:5 “Not that we are adequate in ourselves so as to consider anything as having come from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.” (NASB, emphasis added).

If you want to move mountains, you must listen to God and pray. The third indispensable mustard seed of faith is to forgive. This is extremely crucial. Jesus talked about moving mountains at least three times in the Bible [Matthew, Mark and Luke]. In two of those instances [Mark and Luke], it was tied to a sermon on forgiveness.

Mark 11:25-26: “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (NKJV). I know it is painful. In fact, sometimes forgiving feels unfair. But if you insist on not forgiving, you are doing yourself a disservice. Forgiveness is a choice you have to make which is not based on your feelings.

Forgive! Forgiveness will not change another, but it will change your heart. In fact, someone said that while faith moves mountains, unforgiveness makes mountains. God wants to move your mountains, but you need to plant the mustard seed of forgiveness. People tend to hold on to unforgiveness for several reasons. Sadly, all they are doing is reinforcing mountains.

Scripture shows us how to forgive in Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (NIV). The power to forgive comes from being forgiven. When we receive God's forgiveness, we have the power to forgive.

Meditation: What would you like to talk to God about based on today’s study?
