God’s WordSample
God’s Word is a weapon
There are a lot of spiritual powers that want to resist God’s work. As God’s children, we have to withstand them – but we can’t do that on our own. Therefore God gave us armor to put on. In Ephesians 6, we read about the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation… these are all meant to protect us. And then we read about a weapon to fight back: “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”.
God’s Word is stronger than any spiritual adversary. When Satan tempted Jesus, Jesus turned off every attack by reciting the truth of God’s Word. That was stronger than Satan’s lies, and eventually, he had to admit Jesus’ superiority.
Satan has been conquered by God. But as long as this earth exists, he will try to lead Christians astray. Make sure you have God’s Word ready to fight back “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.”
