Our Identity in Christ

DAY 4 OF 5

Who Gets The Glory?

For our light and momentary afflictions which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” II Corinthians 4:17

Don’t let Satan have what he wants. He is after the glory. If he steals yours then he gets his. How does he steal it? By getting us to focus on the temporal, rather than the eternal.

Your husband left you to be a single parent.
Your boss keeps pushing you down and refuses to promote you.
You spend your life savings on the business only for it to be attacked and vandalized by thugs.

Hard? Yes. But Satan gets the glory when we make “woe is me” an anthem rather than just a song. Our words become Satan’s praise when we let trials become our roadblocks rather than the mountains that were designed to make us stronger.

When a trial of the past keeps us from our future, when we neglect a wound of offense and it becomes infected with bitterness and unforgiveness, we inadvertently arm Satan’s cronies with powerful weapons. It is then that Satan can go on vacation, for our bitter thoughts have become his employees and do his work for him.

That is not our destiny. We will not be ignorant of the devil’s schemes (II Cor 2:11). That is not what the blood of Jesus paid for. We are eternal beings—so shall our thoughts be in Jesus' name!

Look up! Train your eyes skyward as you put your hands to work below, for our heart follows our eyes and our hands follow our heart. Do this and you will not miss.

The heavy weight of affliction you feel now will be flooded by the grace of your future reality into the temporal present. Do this and God gets the glory, shares it with you and Satan gets none. Satan gets a negative return on his investment. God gets a hundred-fold.

Life Application
Who is going to get the glory from your life? From your trials? Stay soft to God during hardship and you will learn and grow and become.

Prayer
I soak in the thought of being eternally with you in your glory.  Thank you.
