THE ROYAL LAW
James draws our attention towards partiality in judicial proceedings. (Lev.19:15). The”Royal law” reminds us of the”perfect law of liberty” which guide the actions of the wise. The command to obey all the words of the law shows the whole hearted devotion to God's will that characterizes true piety in James. Since the injunction to love and mercy fulfill the law, we must pay special attention to the lowly and suffering who need assistance. James says that a man may be moral in his action, pure in his speech and meticulous in his devotion and yet he may spoil himself by one fault. In the scripture passage above James sees the whole law as the will of God. The law provides the basis for God’s judgment against those who dishonor the poor.
Dear Lord,
Help us to serve with diligence, and to direct and control with justice and with mercy. We pray for the repentance for the injustices that are found among us. -Amen
Never, for the sake of peace and quiet, deny your own experience or convictions. - Dag Hammarskjold

About this Plan

My inspiration for this 30 days Devotional is from prolonged theological discourses on Justice. My burning desire is to see that the Church becomes catalyst to stop violence against the poor. I am also grateful to Organizations who work relentlessly to secure Justice for the poor.
