Prayer: A Powerful Business StrategySample

I run a privately owned group of 32 companies and trusts. However, I want to make clear, this is not because of my own talents. I believe my businesses have grown exponentially over the last 20 years because I have prioritized having a strong intimacy with the Lord.

Similarly, if you commit to developing your intimacy with the Lord, inevitably you will see your own business begin to multiply in terms of productivity, profitability, and prominence.

By the same token, when our intimacy with the Lord starts to diminish, things start to go wrong. An example of this in the Bible was when Adam prayed and spoke with the Lord in the cool of the evening in the Garden of Eden. At some point, his intimacy waned as his allegiance and his attention switched to the serpent.

Eve was deceived by the serpent; she was attracted to the allure of him. Yet, the serpent never deceived Adam. In fact, 1 Timothy 2:14 states that Adam was not deceived but willingly ate the fruit. For Adam to make that decision, he had clearly started to lose his intimacy with the Lord.

After Adam and Eve had eaten the fruit, the Lord searched for them, as they were hiding. There was no longer any intimacy. As a result of their actions, Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden. Adam no longer had the privilege and opportunity to walk with God in the cool of the evening. Additionally, the Lord cursed the ground and said, "Through the sweat of your brow, through the thistles and thorns, will you create your income and your means of living."

Remember, in those days, flocks and domestic animals were wealth. They all came out and relied on the ground, which meant the Lord had deliberately restricted their ability to create wealth. Intimacy with the Lord directly correlates with prosperity in the marketplace.

Therefore, this is one example of why it is so important to prioritize spending time with the Lord. Without regular communication with God, we can easily be distracted and misled. So, when you seek God’s will and do things God’s way, you will experience His blessing and favor.
