21 Days of Peace

DAY 17 OF 21

CONSIDER

World Bank Group reports that:

The share of the extremely poor, living in conflict-affected situations is expected to rise from 17% of the global total today to almost 50% by 2030. Conflicts also drive 80% of all humanitarian needs.

There is unimaginable pain caused by conflict happening across the world every day to which we are often desensitized. Families are doing whatever they can to survive as they hope and pray for an end to the conflict. Our world is in desperate need of restoration, wholeness, and the transformative power of shalom. As we begin to consider our role in creating greater harmony, it can be encouraging to simply notice when shalom is at work and how it’s affecting those experiencing this deep peace.  When we make an effort to recognize the gravity of shalom, it can inspire us to strengthen our own efforts to spread it throughout the world.

Where have you seen shalom recently across the world?

Can you think of an influential leader who embodies shalom? If so, what do you think is the root of it?

How might you share the shalom you are noticing with a world that is so desperate for it?

Day 16Day 18

About this Plan

21 Days of Peace

It’s easy to become overwhelmed by feelings of fear, scarcity, and helplessness. In this 21-day series from World Relief, you’re invited to slow down, meet with God and uncover what it means to practice real peace in your everyday life and be a peacemaker in an often divided world. Each week, you’ll meditate on a single passage of scripture and engage with God through prayer, journaling, and intentional action.
