Be Still
Psalm 46:10a
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God...
There is so much noise around us. The noise of people talking, a train moving, cars honking, airplanes flying overhead, loud music, kids screaming, birds chirping, and so on. If you are talking with someone over the phone, you will have to find a quiet spot to minimize the noise. This way, you and the other person will be able to communicate better.
Be still means be calm, quiet, and stop moving. When you can ‘be still’, you will be able to think clearly and positively. Too much noise can cause you to feel anxious and jumpy and it will also be very difficult for you to recognize God’s voice when He speaks to you.
We learn more by listening than by talking. It is good that you find a quiet place where you can be still and be free from the noises of the world. This quiet place can be in the corner of your room, study room, prayer tower of your Church, or even the library. Let’s make time to be alone with God.
Prayer
Dear God, help me to turn off the noise in my life so I can be still and listen to Your voice. Amen.
