Hello Baby, I Love You! Abc's for Young MomsSample
B
is for Boundaries
Boundaries are essential in life, in love, and parenting! There is a beginning and an end to each day. Structure, pattern, stability, and schedule will help you and your baby in the rhythm of life. Think of a piece of music how it has a beginning, a middle, and an end. The musical score indicates the timing and places of rest. Your days will never be the same, yet they can have a rhythm and a melody. Just like a beautiful piece of music, our days can have Christ and the gospel woven throughout with a cadence created by structure, pattern, and boundaries.
There is a time for everything. When your children are beginning their young lives establishing set times for meals, naps, bathing, singing, work, and play brings order and joyful anticipation to their days. Your schedule doesn't have to be rigid, but it is helpful when it is consistent. Create space for baby and space for you. Setting a time alone for them, either in a crib or in a pack-n-play will help develop their inner person and their relationship with God. The practice of establishing boundaries will make a huge difference. You will find that the waves of your "to-dos" and pressures will not roll over you or toss you to and fro as easily when there is structure.
When God marked the foundations of the earth He set a boundary for the sea so the water would not transgress His command. So, set boundaries (within reason of course). Remember in your plan to follow the Lord, He is your Shepherd. He is the foundation, the Rock, of your structure. He always comes first.
