Alone But Not LonelySample
Day 2- Purpose
“I already found me a sure thing…”
Even if others make no room for you, there is always room for you in God’s kingdom. Be careful about how you speak of the gifts God has given you. He has a unique work to do in and through every one of His creations, even if all you have is five loaves and two fish. Your five and two are enough for Him. It’s not the gift that holds the power, it is God’s spirit. If God calls you to do something, He will equip you with all that you need to do it.
It was having this revelation of purpose that freed me of desires to chase after other things. What He has planned for me and for you is exceedingly abundantly more than we can think or imagine. Any work done through His spirit is everlasting and fruitful, and everything without Him is done in vain. Good works wither away. Good relationships wither away. Good careers wither away. Only that which was established by Him and for Him are eternal. So why live chasing and storing earthly treasures?
By trusting in things other than the Lord, by giving yourself over to their power, you eventually become defenseless against the pull of that sin. If Christ Himself lives in me, where am I taking Him? What am I making Him look at? What am I making Him listen to? We break God’s heart when we chase other things. Fulfilling God’s calling on your life and becoming holy should be simultaneous. Before we can do His work, we need to become more like Him. (Faith grows by hearing, and hearing by the word of God!)
Journal Entry: “God, I asked You to transform me, but I failed to give you the room in my life to do so. Here I am, Lord. 100% of me before you and completely surrendered to Your will. Whatever You want me to do Lord, I will do it. Wherever You want me to go Lord, I will go.” -3/3/16
Prayer: Lord, please reveal to me my five loaves and two fish, and give me the strength to surrender them to You. I know You go before me and I know Your thoughts for me are more than the grains of sand. Help me to trust in Your will and plan for my life. Amen.
Action: Dedicate ten minutes a day to pray for God’s plan for your life to help you grow in trust and discernment.
“Keep your presents to yourself, I don’t think I need nothing else…”
