The Innocent Question
Take a moment and reflect on the Biblical event of Abraham and Isaac going to the mountain in simple obedience to God’s command. God, the Father, had kept His promise to Abraham and gave him a son, an heir, with great future of hope and destiny. Isaac, the beloved and treasured son, realized something was amiss. He innocently questions his revered father, “Behold, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Little did he know that he was the one to be a burnt offering but it was God’s plan. It was a foreshadowing of the time to come when in complete obedience, Jesus, the chosen Son of our Heavenly Father would be offered as a lamb for a sin offering. Isaac was spared the intense agony of sacrificial death, yet, Jesus was not spared. He gave Himself.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, Your Kingdom come and Your Will be done in my life. I offer myself to You as a living sacrifice in order that Your glory be fulfilled. In my weakness, may You be glorified and let men see Your Strength working in my life. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
