Finding Purpose Through Authentic Connection

DAY 3 OF 5

What is this life all about? What makes it worth living? What makes our days worthwhile? What keeps moments with others from being just a way to pass time? The answer lies in connecting with people. Life matters most when shared, both the joys and the pains, the profound moments as well as the most ordinary. That’s what connecting looks like. It is being present without having an agenda, loving another both at their best and their worst.

Connecting means risking vulnerability and building each other up through encouragement. To connect is to see and to be seen, to let each other know that we are not alone and never will be, even when we’re absent from one another. Life still takes place without it, but the connections we make with others give fulfillment and joy and satisfaction and clarity. For many people, this realization does not come until their life is about to end. As the old saying goes, no one on their deathbeds ever said they wished they’d spent more time at the office. For me, I don’t want to wait that long to figure this out. I want to begin living for connections now.

Life is not about the next sale. It’s not about the next promotion or the next dollar or the next house or the next car or the next great escapade. Real life has always been found in looking around you and participating in other people’s stories, pouring yourself into them, giving to them more than they give to you.

About this Plan

Finding Purpose Through Authentic Connection

The longing for human connection is universal. If you wrestle with feelings of loneliness, rejection, and doubt - you’re not alone. So many of us question whether or not we matter. Based on Ben Higgins' new book, Alone in Plain Sight, this five-day devotional is an invitation to join Ben in exploring how to find your purpose by pursuing authentic connection with yourself, with others, and with God.
