Over It All

DAY 4 OF 7

He is Over Hurt

Overcoming hurt as a human being can sometimes be the most difficult challenge. We all react differently to hurt. Some people shut off their feelings and shut off their heart and become hardened in order to cope. Others become depressed and overwhelmed with sorrow. Some people lose hope while some may become emotionally dependant on others to try and fill the void that hurt left. Some just move on and try to bury their lives in work.

Whatever your mechanism may be, the best thing to do is to forgive and ask Jesus to heal your heart. This is one of his primary purposes: to bind up the broken hearted. Therefore, he is good at it. He experienced what we experience so he can identify all of the emotions first-hand. He was falsely accused and then persecuted to the point of death on the cross, yet he chose to forgive. This is the first step to being free of hurt.

The second is the prayer for healing. It’s like our hearts break a little when we get hurt but the good news is that Jesus our healer. He’s the one to give you beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Let him help you today, to free you and restore joy in your life because the joy of the Lord is your strength.

Prayer

Today, Lord, I take the first step to freedom and I choose to forgive all those that have hurt me. (you can lists their names) And now, Jesus, could you come and heal my heart, bind it up with your love? Restore my heart. In fact, give me a new heart—a heart of flesh, one that is soft again. I want to be free from this hurt that keeps influencing my life, so please come now, Lord. In Jesus‘ name. Amen.
