DIVINE POWER
Maybe you’re reading this devotional and you desperately want something from God not because you’re in a drought, but because you’re in a battle.
Whether you’re fighting against external circumstances you can’t control or an internal monologue that feels like an inescapable war in your mind, if your faith is in God, then divine power is in you.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 says, “For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
When we fight the lies in our minds with God’s truth, we exercise divine power.
When we bring forgiveness and grace into an argument, we exercise divine power.
So much of the divine actually begins in your mind. Negative thinking will never lead to a divine calling. When we choose to live as a hostage to our own thoughts rather than taking our thoughts captive, we forfeit our divine power.
Divine transformation begins when you cling to the thoughts that are from God — the words that He’s whispered over you instead of the words someone else spoke over you.
Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
Having divine discernment is basically a spiritual superpower, and it’s one you have full access to if you will learn to flood your mind with truth. We flood our minds with truth by reading God’s Word and spending time thinking about what He says about us: you are loved, seen, and you can do all things through Christ.
Spend some time today trying to trace your thoughts back to where they came from. Do the majority of your thoughts align with God’s Word or this world? Where are you giving up your divine power because of some thoughts that aren’t true?
You’ve got a divine purpose and the power to walk in it, but it all begins with what you choose to receive from God. Choose to receive truth today.
