The purpose of making disciples is to train them and then release them to go and accomplish God’s purpose of establishing His Kingdom in each life He calls—including their own. 

In John chapter 17, Jesus prays for Himself, “Glorify Your Son, that Your Son may glorify You.” Then He prays for His disciples, “Holy Father, protect them by the power of Your name, the name you gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one.” Lastly, Jesus prays for you and me, “I pray also for those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in Us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.” Jesus was sent into the world to establish God’s Kingdom by bringing unity to all things in heaven and on earth.

Matthew chapter 10 tells us that, “Jesus called His twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness.” Jesus sent His disciples into the world with the authority to, “Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near… Give as freely as you have received!” 

God chose twelve ordinary men who would follow Jesus to experience His signs and wonders through Someone greater than they could’ve imagined—Emmanuel, God with us. The disciples were not capable to fully believe Jesus until the day they received the Holy Spirit, and then they experienced God within. Mark 16:20 says that the disciples “went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked through them, confirming His word by the signs that accompanied it.” 

That is why you and I are here today. Because twelve ordinary men heard the One who called them, got up and followed Him, walked with Him, believed, and received His message. The message the disciples believed transformed their lives so much that they died for it while being witnesses for God’s Kingdom around the world. 

The Kingdom of God has to be seen, believed, and experienced. Its lifestyle has to be practiced in perfect unity with the Father to then impart it to others. Disciples can only impart what they have come to experience for themselves. 

God makes disciples who give freely as they receive freely.
