Praying Through the Letters of John with Hillsong Creative

DAY 4 OF 7

After you have completed today’s reading from the Bible, we encourage you to set aside a moment to listen along to the guide provided as we pray and allow God to speak to us through His Word.

1 John 4:17 says, “This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgement: In this world we are like Jesus.”

The calling card of a Christian is not forgiveness but ever increasing love. Love that doesn’t lead us to live like Jesus is love that is incomplete. As today’s reading makes clear, Jesus’ love was complete in His sacrifice for others. Are there areas in your life right now that love could be made more complete by sacrificing for others in your world? What would that look like?

God has called you to be like Jesus in your world today. What would it look like if Jesus went to your workplace, did your job, parented your children, or served your spouse? What would He say? What would He do? And how would others respond to Him?

Now, what could you do to live like Jesus in your world today?

Thank God that you can love because He first loved you. Ask Him for His help to show His love to others.

"Heavenly Father, open our eyes today to what real sacrificial love might look like. Help us to see those in need, those hurting, those broken and give us the courage and strength to extend arms of love and compassion to them. Thank You, Father, that we are called to be like Jesus in this world. Holy Spirit, enable us to live out the life You have called us to. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”

About this Plan

Praying Through the Letters of John with Hillsong Creative

Join the creative community of Hillsong Church as we read and pray through 1, 2, and 3 John. These works are likely penned by the apostle John, written to a known community of believers and to specific individuals within this community. John wrote to combat false teaching by re-anchoring believers in the truth of Jesus Christ and giving guidance on how to live in love as children of God.
