The Church has Left the Building

DAY 6 OF 7

Have you ever been rescued? Maybe your life was on the line, you couldn’t rescue yourself, and someone had to come to rescue you. When I was 11 years old, I was living with my mother in an extremely volatile home. I needed out. I needed someone to see me, care about me, and rescue me. My father saw me. Although he lived 1,000 miles away, he saw my need, threw out a lifeline, and pulled me in safely in his home in Atlanta, GA. Daily, I wonder what my life would have looked like if I would have stayed with my mom in Austin, TX. Everything would be different. But someone rescued me.

In the same way, Jesus has rescued all of us. It has been His mission from the beginning to pursue, and rescue us all. Do you feel rescued? When you feel rescued, it is usually easier to rescue those around you. You get what it feels like to be alone, in a dark place with no purpose or mission. But then the rescue happens. The Church has left the building. Sometimes I feel like the Church is a massive ship, knowing people are fighting for their lives all around them, wading in the water, but they make everyone swim to the ship to get saved, instead of sending out life rafts. You and I are the life rafts. We need to leave the building and be the search and rescue team in our neighborhoods and community.

And for those who feel like they are drowning, they need the breath of God to enter into their lungs. All scripture is God-breathed. This is the same word that is used in Genesis 2, when God breathed life into Adam. If you are drowning in fear, in finances, with insecurity, in a broken relationship, with a death in the family, or just in life, let the Word of God resuscitate you back to life!

About this Plan

The Church has Left the Building

Do we want to look back at our time in history and watch Christianity fall by the wayside? Do we want our generation to be known throughout all of history as the generation who was overtaken? It is our responsibility to step up, take action, and lead the NOW generation into the future. We don’t want Christianity to begin dying on our watch.
