UNPACK this...Confusion, Worry, and UncertaintySample
Dealing With Confusion
Following a controversial no-call for pass interference against the Rams in the 2018 NFC Championship game that negatively affected the Saints, the NFL made some changes to their rules.
The next season allowed coaches to challenge pass interference calls, enabling refs to review the plays and overturn or confirm the calls on the field. Unfortunately, this led to more confusion, inconsistency, and frustration for everyone involved – including the fans.
Anytime there are changes in the NFL, coaches and players are forced to adjust to the rules and adapt their strategy, but oftentimes they’re just left with confusion. Beyond not understanding NFL rules, we’re all encountering a deep level of confusion during this pandemic.
Facing unexpected circumstances, we’re wondering what to do next, what is allowed, and how to adjust to the changing rules. Consumed by questions and frustration, we’re unclear about the "calls" we need to make.
Thankfully, as followers of Jesus, we don’t have to allow uncertainty to cause us to worry and fear. Things don’t make perfect sense at the moment, and we don’t know what God is doing behind the scenes, but we can be confident He’ll lead us and make the right path known.
Psalm 32:8 gives us this hope: “The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’”
We can trust God to provide clarity in the uncertainty and waiting. Instead of being confused in our limited understanding, He offers peace by helping us make wise decisions according to His will. As we pray, listen, and wait for Him, He points us in the right direction.
1 Corinthians 14:33 assures us, “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace…”
Today, let’s cling to His character and place our faith in His ability to clarify what steps He wants us to take.
