Reverse the Curse: How Jesus Moves Us From Death to LifeSample
Day 4 - Dust to Dust
God fashioned Adam and Eve from the dust of the world, and it was only when He breathed His breath of life into them that they became living beings. Life was all around them and it was all they might have known. But just as God had warned, when they sinned against Him and ate the fruit, the result was cycles of death that would haunt all of creation.
God’s words and actions have always moved toward life. But when sin was introduced into the world, death strolled into the story.
We live in a world where the evidence of death surrounds us daily—from hospitals, to headstones, to highway memorials. We are encircled by the curse of sin. Yet Jesus came to show us a life free from the sting of death. Although death still has a foothold in this world for now, reversing the curse of death begins by using the shortness of this life to leave a legacy that lasts beyond this life.
Questions
- Does your inevitable mortality impact the way you live? How should a follower of Jesus approach his or her death?
- What does it mean to leave a legacy? What legacy do you want to pass on?
About this Plan
Within Eden, sin moved in and made its home in the world. A world of God’s creation became tainted by a curse of our own doing. There is no doubt that sin came to ravage all things good, but woven throughout all of Scripture is the story of God working all things out for His good. We brought sin into the story, but God is reversing the curse.
