The New Testament in 90 DaysSample
Introduction to First Thessalonians
Scholars believe this was the very first letter that Paul ever wrote. He wrote this a few months after having preached in Thessalonica sometime around A.D. 51. After leaving the church, he wanted to ensure that this new church was doing well, so he sent Timothy back to them. Timothy returned with good news, which led Paul to write this letter to encourage them.
This letter is filled with hope about the return of Christ—the second coming. Paul was encouraged by their faith but he did feel the need to correct their misunderstandings about Jesus’s resurrection and His second coming.
