Growing in Hope

DAY 12 OF 43

Jesus is the Only Way

We have already determined by looking at Colossians 1 that Jesus is God. We also know, according to John 5:19, that Jesus does only what the Father tells Him. With that being said, we can be confident that everything that Jesus says is from God and is true. This means that God said that Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven.

Jesus did not say that He is one of many ways, but that He is the ONLY way.

Can being a good person get you to God the Father in Heaven? Can being a “spiritual person” get you to Heaven or in a right relationship with God? What about being a church member? Do all religions eventually lead to the same place? Believing in God and believing that Jesus was a good man is good enough, right?

The answer to all of these questions is NO! The answer is not because man says it’s "no"; the answer is “no” because Jesus, who is God, says it’s “no”. It’s not about religion, church membership, or doing good things. It’s all about a relationship with Jesus.

Jesus was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:18), lived a life without sin (Hebrews 4:15), performed miracles and healings (Matthew 8-9), died on the cross and was buried in a grave (Matthew 27), rose from the dead 3 days later (Matthew 28), appeared to over 500 people after rising from the grave (1 Corinthians 15:6), and ascended (went up) to Heaven (Luke 24:50). All of these things are recorded in the Bible, which is a real historical document and the Word of God. All of what Jesus did was done to prove to us that Jesus is who He said He was.

Here’s the point: Some may try to convince you that there are many ways to have a relationship with God and to get to Heaven. Don’t listen to them! It simply is not true. Jesus, Himself, said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6).

Jesus is either a liar or He really is the only way. If Jesus really is God, then we must believe that His words are true, which means that He really is the only way to the Father!

Today, thank Jesus for showing you He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life! Thank Jesus for saving you from an eternal death in Hell and for giving you eternal, abundant life with Him! Take a few minutes and pray for people who have not yet chosen to be followers of Jesus, who do not yet have eternal life with Him.

Prayer:
Father, Thank You for sending Jesus to take away our sins and making the way for us to have a relationship with You! Please fill my heart and mind with more of Your Truth, and guide me as I seek to follow You today! I love You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
