When you Follow Him, You are a Leader

As followers of Jesus Christ, the purpose of our time on earth is to walk with Jesus, abide in Him, and live through Him—and then share that light with others. No matter where we have influence—in ministry, in an office, in a classroom, in our community, or at home with our family—we have been called to make a difference within our unique spheres of influence. This makes us leaders. We may be in different seasons, circumstances, and places, and have different gifts, talents, and vocations, but we all have a responsibility to keep moving forward as we follow Jesus, and to lead others to Him along the way. 

Jesus calls us to “ ...go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you...”  (Matthew 28:19-20).

Our most important leadership position doesn’t come from a title or a corner office. God plucked us out of eternity, positioned us in time, and gave us unique gifts and talents to serve our generation. As His children, we cannot ignore our calling to follow the greatest Leader in His mission. 

No matter where you are at this moment, remember that He has called you (yes, you!) to join Him in mission to love and lead others to Christ. He provides wonderful opportunities each day for you to step into your leadership role in your home, community, and workplace. 

In this next week together, we will discover how we can focus our efforts, make wise choices, communicate effectively, think clearly, pray passionately, and care for ourselves according to His Word.  My hope is that our time together will help those who are already operating in the full throttle of their leadership gifting to thrust ahead even further, and that those who have never before thought of themselves as leaders will begin to step boldly into their passion, purpose, and potential for leading the world around them to Christ.
