Seven Days with the Prodigal Father Sample
From Rock Bottom to a Moment of Clarity
Luke 15:17 NIV tells us that, “He came to his senses.” This is the moment every person needs to have. A moment of clarity. A solemn epiphany where you think, “Wait a minute. What am I doing here? What have I become? Who am I? Why am I living this way? There must be something better and something more than this in life!”
Some of you need to come to your senses like the prodigal son! Maybe you grew up in church or used to follow Jesus? You need to realize that whatever erroneous notions led you to walk away from your faith and start chasing after the things of this world — they won’t deliver. Jeremiah 2:5 warns us, “Thus says the Lord, ‘What injustice did your fathers find in Me, that they went far from Me and walked after emptiness and became empty?’” (NASB). The world lied and you bought it! It promised the peace, joy, satisfaction, and fulfillment that you ached for, but left you empty.
It’s time to go home! Maybe you’ve never heard these things before. Maybe you didn’t know there was a solution to the living hell you are in. Maybe you didn’t know that God has a remedy for the sin, sickness, addiction, and darkness that are trying to drown you. This is your wakeup call — it’s time to go home!
And that’s exactly what the prodigal son did. He decided he would humble himself, go back to his father, and offer to become one of his hired servants (because even they lived better than he was living).
