Every Word, a Reader's 90-Day Guide to the BibleSample
- God has Babylon dismantle Judah in three stages. First the elite and educated are exiled, which includes faithful Daniel and his friends. Notice how these young men bring glory to God in their exile.
- In the midst of Jerusalem’s devastation, Jeremiah’s prophecy shifts to hope. Glimpse the promise of Jesus in Jeremiah 23:5–6. Understand that the story of the Bible is how God has made a way for you to return to a relationship with Him (Jeremiah 24:7).
- Jeremiah 29 gives instruction to the exiles living in Babylon. Consider how Christians can apply these instructions to our exile in the sinful world (1 Peter 1:13–19).
- Jeremiah 31 promises a new covenant. Having read this far, you know that sinful man could not keep the old covenant. In the new covenant, God shoulders the burden and bridges the gap between Himself and mankind. Jesus inaugurates the new covenant through His death and resurrection. “I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people” (Jeremiah 31:33).
