Growing In Resilience: A Prayer JourneySample
Resilience Practice: Gratitude
What are you grateful for today? Give thanks to God and remember all His wonderful deeds.
Research has shown that grateful people experience higher levels of positive emotions such as joy, enthusiasm, love, happiness, and optimism. The practice of gratitude as a discipline protects a person from the destructive impulses of envy, resentment, greed, and bitterness. A person who practices gratitude is able to cope more effectively with everyday stress, shows increased resilience, and may recover more quickly from illness and benefit from greater physical health.

About this Plan
Whether confronted with difficult life events or extended periods of pressure, resilience helps us to emerge stronger, wiser, and with a deeper faith. Yet such resilience is not automatic – it involves behaviours, thoughts, and actions that are learned and practised over time. This 40-day prayer journey helps us develop practices to grow that resilience.
