WITHOUT PRAYER I MUST HAVE FAILED

A pastor from New York, in a conversation with President Lincoln at the White House, said, "Mr. President, I didn't come to ask you for anything; I only came to tell you that loyal people in the northern state support you now and they will continue to do so.

We give you everything we have: our son's life, our trust, and our prayers. You must know that no father or mother can pray at this time without asking God to give you wisdom and strength. "

With eyes filled with tears, Mr. Lincoln replied, “Without these prayers, I would have been worried and failed long ago. Tell every father and mother you know to keep praying, and I will continue to fight because I know God is on our side.”

When the pastor was about to leave the room, Mr. Lincoln held the pastor's hand and said, "I think I can consider this to be a minister's visit?" 

"That’s right,” the pastor answered. "In overseas," Lincoln said, "when a pastor is on a visiting assignment, it is a tradition to ask that pastor to lead a prayer. So I want to ask you to pray with me today. Pray that I have strength and wisdom. "

The two men then knelt side by side, and the pastor delivered the most eager request to God Almighty which had ever escaped his lips. When they got up, the president grabbed his guest's hand and commented with satisfaction, "I feel better."

Devotion

Prayer with dependence on God is the key to the success of each one of us. Do we always pray for wisdom and strength in carrying out each of our activities? Let our lives always depend on God Almighty.
