Read To Me Daily Semester 4Sample
HOSEA 6-8:
In yesterday’s reading, Hosea bought back his wife from prostitution. And the Lord drew analogies in his speech to Israel.
PROVERBS 24a:
Here are my favorite verses from today’s reading in Proverbs:
Pro. 24:5 GNT Being wise is better than being strong; yes, knowledge is more important than strength.
6 After all, you must make careful plans before you fight a battle, and the more good advice you get, the more likely you are to win.
MATTHEW 5b:
Yesterday we read the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount, including the famous and memorizable Beatitudes. We also heard the first instance of “You have heard it said… but I say …”
Let’s pray.
Dear Lord Jesus, the world tells us that there is no use in being good, no purpose in keeping a pure heart, no virtue in being humble, no reason to do what You require, and no reason to stand out in the crowd so that we get persecuted. You say that our Father sees everything, and knows even the desires in our hearts. You say that God will reward us abundantly, we will own the Kingdom of God, be satisfied, and be counted as God’s children and receive all He has promised. May we be like good salt, not the kind that gets thrown out. Make us like a light that shines in the dark. Lord Jesus, may we have a proper respect for the righteousness You clothe us with. Keep us from angry sins against our brothers and sisters for which we could be brought before the heavenly court. On this earth, before we get to that heavenly court, help us to make peace with our brothers and sisters, and with our heavenly Father. May we realize that You have saved us from a jail sentence that we would never be able to get released from. May we tell others all around: God will give the deserved reward for each person— whether it be in the eternal jail, or eternal life in the Kingdom of God.
