DAY 28 OF 116

2CHRONICLES 30:
As we have heard in our story in 2nd Chronicles, Hezekiah led a wonderful spiritual revival which included the reopening and cleansing of the temple and the resumption of sacrifices. And he wasted no time in doing those things.

ECCLESIASTES 6:
Solomon gave wonderful conclusions about happiness in yesterday’s reading in Ecclesiastes. And he also observed that we leave the world as naked and empty-handed as when we came into the it.

MATTHEW 19:
Yesterday’s portion of Matthew 18 included the important parable about the king and the forgiven servant who did not forgive the debt of his fellow servant.

Let’s pray.
Our loving Lord Jesus, change our hearts to remove our pride and striving to gain a higher position. Help us to figure out that most of our striving on earth is no better than trying to catch the wind. And so often it is our striving to outdo one another that causes us to offend our brothers and sisters. May we be like children who humbly trust You and welcome others. And help us to realize the millions of sins for which we have been forgiven— big and little sins forgiven at the cost of your blood shed on the cross. Help us to remember how You have forgiven us when the time comes to forgive our brother or sister of his or her few little offenses toward us. Help us to forgive from the heart, not just in words. Give us loving fellowship and unity of purpose, so that we can agree on earth about the one thing which is NOT striving to catch the wind— which is seeking to further your Kingdom. So help us to agree together and to actually pray with our fellow believers, and have the joy of not just seeing our requests granted, but having the privilege of You being with us— holding our hands as we pray  together. Help us to remember to seek first your kingdom, and as You promise, all our other needs will be met as well.
