DAY 20 OF 116

2CHRONICLES 18:
Woops. In our story in 2nd Chronicles, Asa didn’t end nearly as well as he started. And his son Jehoshaphat starts out well, but makes unfortunate alliances.

PROVERBS 31a:
Today and tomorrow are our last two readings in Proverbs. Verses 10-31 of chapter 31 comprise a Hebrew acrostic poem; each verse begins with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Our highlighted verse today is verse 10. I like NLT’s translation better than some others because the Hebrew word describing a good wife means more than just capable. It also includes valor and virtue.

Pro. 31:10 NLT Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
She is more precious than rubies.

MATTHEW 13b:
Yesterday we heard the first two major parables in Jesus’ teaching, and the reason why He spoke in parables.

Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, again we find You teaching about the final judgment. And your teaching again brings out Satan’s role in this world. His attacks against us are really attempts to destroy your work and hurt You. Lord Jesus, thank You for sharing this word about the knowledge of the Kingdom that was given to your disciples. From this we also can know that we have been given the same knowledge about the secrets of the Kingdom. We pray that we will be the people who listen, and understand; who look and perceive, and who use our ears to hear properly. We don’t want the Word to be snatched from us! Today Lord, help us to meditate, seeking to understand whether our temptations to discard your Word come because we are more like the path, the rocky ground, or the thorny ground. Please transform those tendencies in us so that we become like the good soil. Teach us what specific steps we can take starting today to NOT be so vulnerable to our personal weaknesses.
