Love God Greatly: Words MatterSample
Love your neighbor as yourself. The golden rule we learn and teach in Sunday school. This is one of the principles of our Christian faith: we’re love our neighbor the same way we love ourselves.
Many of us have a problem here, though. We want to love God and love others…but we haven't found a way to love ourselves. Maybe the reflection in the mirror gives you a version of yourself you don't like. Maybe there's something in your life you know is wrong and leads you to think nobody can love you (including yourself). Maybe you don't like the way you speak when anger takes control of your tongue.
Whatever the reason, in order to love others well, you have to learn to love yourself. And, sometimes, that's the most difficult thing to do. Dear friend, start to believe you are loved, you are cared for and cherished. Speak those truths to yourself, love yourself well and then, love others the same way.
Heavenly Father I come to You with a heavy heart. I confess there have been multiple times when I have not loved myself and I have doubted Your love for me. Please help me love well. In Jesus’ name, amen.
About this Plan
In this 4 week study, we will dig into God’s Word and learn what He says about the words we speak to ourselves, to others, and words that change the world. We will learn to honor God and others with the words that we speak. We pray this study gives us great insight into how we can consistently speak words that give life and transform lives.
