The Lord Who Heals You

DAY 14 OF 21

DO NOT BE AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE

Mark 5:36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”

Jairus, a leader of the synagogue has come to Jesus to plead with Him to come and heal his daughter. Jairus has done all the right things- he believes and has spoken his faith that she will be healed, and has put his reputation and position on the line, sacrificing all to fall at Jesus’ feet. He has done all the right things but, despite all that, he still receives the worst medical report that you can get- his daughter has just died.

The temptation to get off track from believing to fear, doubt or discouragement has come, and Jesus moves immediately to make sure that the man stays in his position to receive, guarding his heart. Verse 36 says, ‘As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”

Jesus didn’t say, “I’m here in the flesh; It doesn’t matter what you believe, I’ll heal her anyway”. He didn’t say it didn’t matter if Jairus ‘fell apart’, complained, despaired- He told him to believe, despite the circumstance.

Jesus doesn’t voice the problem but rather that the child was not dead. He speaks according to what He knows He is about to do; we speak according to what He has already done.

Too many believers are voicing their problems, calling that facing reality but, if we want the results of God then we have to do things His way. He ‘calls those things which do not exist as though they did’ (Romans 4:17). He is well aware of the problem, but to overcome it He calls forth the answer that does not yet exist in the physical realm as though it already did (past tense), and in so doing, shows us to do the same.

Another thing that many believers say is ‘I know that the symptoms are just a lie’ like they don’t really exist but this is denial. The snakebites on the Israelites in Numbers 21 were real, not a lie, the death of Jairus’ daughter was real, not a lie. However, the truth is that Jesus and His finished work are enough to overcome the problem.

About this Plan

The Lord Who Heals You

Jesus provided healing for us just as much as forgiveness through His finished work of the Cross. God has not made this difficult to receive but a simple faith that focuses on seeing Jesus and what He has already done for you, positions you for the power of God that is enough to heal 'every kind of sickness and every kind of disease'.
