DAY 3 OF 6

What Am I Doing With My Life? Test Me, God

Have you ever sat around doing nothing all day? Later, with a video game controller stuck to your hand and Cheetos stuck to your face you may have thought, “What am I doing with my life?” Don’t worry. It happens to everyone. And goofing off is great for us sometimes. It helps us relax. But—what if you really don’t know what you’re doing (or ever will do) that’s truly meaningful? What if you don’t have any idea why God created you? Have you ever wondered what your purpose even is?

Yikes! We’re getting deep already! It’s nice to see you again. I, your Bible Plan, have been waiting patiently for you to open up this day because I’ve got a really fun video waiting for you. And, it’s definitely not pointless. Just watch!

See? You’re not pointless! God made you on purpose. Yesterday, we talked about the boy, David, who was chosen to be a king. Ehh … I don’t know anyone like that, do you? I mean, I’m just a Bible Plan, but still—I never had anyone read me before who was like, “Yes. I have been chosen and set apart as a future President of the United States.” Or, “I know God has planned for me to become the future greatest basketball player who ever lived.” Hey—don’t get me wrong. Some of you might have a pretty good idea of what God wants you to be. But, if you’re still scratching your head over your purpose, you’re not alone.

Today, focus on the part of Psalm 139:23-24 NIV that says, “test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me …” You might worry over what your purpose is, but God doesn’t. Colossians chapter 3 has tons of ideas for you on how you should live your everyday life. Are you walking in compassion, kindness, forgiveness, and humility? And today’s reading from the book of Micah is so helpful, too. If you don’t know what the detailed purpose of your life is, that’s fine! Do whatever is in front of you to make sure people are treated fairly, that you forgive quickly, and that you humbly remember that God is in charge of it all.

I can’t wait for tomorrow. I have something so important to tell you. It’s basically the whole point of this Bible Plan. I’d better stop or I might give it away! Come back tomorrow to find out.

Day 2Day 4

About this Plan

Search Me, Test Me, Lead Me

Who am I? What am I doing with my life? What can I do? These are questions you might be wrestling with if you’re in the 4th to 6th grade. And, guess what? God will help you find answers to those questions. This six-day Bible Plan digs into Psalm 139:23-24 and teaches you to ask God to search, test, and lead you into the purpose He designed for your life.
