Everyone. Everywhere. Part 1Sample
Lights of the World: Have you ever been to a wedding where the guests light sparklers for the bride and groom’s exit? If you have not, it typically involves having everyone lined up with their sparklers. Then a person will light a few sparklers, and those couple of people will then turn to the people around them to ignite their sparklers. It is amazing how many sparklers can be lit in such a short amount of time!
This happened two thousand years ago when Jesus chose twelve disciples. His disciples loved Him and wanted others to love Him. Then they started telling everyone they knew about Jesus, and planted the first churches. We see that Christianity spread like wildfire in Acts and continues to spread even to this day. From those first twelve disciples of Jesus we now have millions who follow and worship Jesus.
When you put your faith in Jesus, you now get to have the “light of the world” in you. Just as the disciples were commanded, you are also commanded to love God and encourage others to love Him. The Gospel can spread through you, resulting in an eternal impact for everyone in your spheres of influence.
- Questions:
- What do you think it means to be “the light of the world”?
- What does that look like in your life?
- Application:
- Read Mark 3:16-19 and pick one disciple to study more about over the next week. Focus on how they followed Jesus, and look for similarities between the disciple and yourself.
