LonelinessSample
Day 6
Often, loneliness can make us feel that we don’t matter, or that our pain doesn’t matter. Even worse, we fear that our loneliness is not going to end. What is the point of all our striving and suffering?
Pray
Heavenly Father, you know me by name and you hear me when I call to you. Thank you for being here with me now.
Read
The writer of this letter is excited about how God graciously gives us a reason to hope even though we are suffering.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Reflect
There’s no getting around the difficulty of being lonely. It can feel like death. Jesus calls his followers to have faith in him—when we know him we trust him, even if we don’t know what the future holds. The apostle Paul offers a stunning answer to the pain and suffering of life. For those who trust in Jesus, he gives the hope of a much fuller life than this short earthly one. Not only is our current suffering temporary, but God is actually using it to prepare something far more glorious for us.
Respond
How often do you think about “unseen” things such as heaven? When Jesus rose from the dead he made it possible for your suffering to be transformed into something beautiful. Ask God to open your eyes to this amazing truth.
