Grow Up And Lead YourselfSample
Weary? Strengthen Yourself.
By Liz Sarno
Are you tired? Worn out? Maybe you are in a season of life where you feel weary, overwhelmed, overworked and over it! Good news. You get to quit… being weary, that is. It’s time to strengthen yourself!
I have walked through seasons of life where I found myself with too much on my plate, not enough hours in the day, and always feeling like I was doing so much while not doing anything well. I learned that in order to overcome the weariness, I had to learn to strengthen myself. Matthew 11:28-30 gave me the keys to find my strength, and I’m going to share them with you.
You have to get away with God and let Him show you how to take a real rest. I’m not an exercise guru, but I do know something about strengthening muscles. You can’t work out the same muscles all the time, you have to take rest days to allow them to heal. It’s in the healing process on the rest days that your muscles become stronger. It’s the same way when you’re weary. Only when you stop to rest will you find a place to build your strength back up.
When you stop being so busy, you will realize how many things you’ve taken on yourself that you could allow someone else to do. By continuing to do the things that are not meant for you to do, you are stopping someone else from reaching the potential that’s in them. By allowing others to walk in their calling, even if they do things differently than you would do them, you will become more fulfilled in your own.
You also have to learn the unforced rhythms of grace. Jesus asked you to walk with Him and work with Him. He never asked you to work for him. He won’t ever put anything too heavy on you. If your load is more than you can carry, maybe it’s time to put some of it down and simply walk with Him for a while. Watch the way He does things. We feel weary when we take our eyes off of Him and start focusing on all of the things that need to be done.
Jesus said, “Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:30 MSG)
If you are weary, strengthen yourself in Him.

About this Plan
Embark on a journey to learn to lead yourself. Often, we aren’t leading ourselves well. Feeling hurt? Protect yourself. Drowning in discouragement? Encourage yourself. Overworked? Manage yourself. Starving spiritually? Feed yourself. Weak and weary? Strengthen yourself. Lonely? Include yourself. We all come to a time in life when we must grow up and lead ourselves.
