Jesus: Our Banner of VictorySample
Victory Over Shame
The enemy loves to talk. God’s Word says that Satan prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. In Revelation, he is referred to as our accuser; we’re told that he accuses us before God day and night. Satan is crafty, and he knows that one of the best ways to kill, steal, and destroy our God-given potential is to create a commentary around our sin that keeps us in a perpetual mentality of unworthiness. He wants us to live in shame.
You see, guilt is about what we’ve done, but shame is about who we are. Many of us accept that God forgives us for what we’ve done but still allow the enemy to accuse us and shut us down with lies about who we are inherently. These lies paralyze us from embracing and walking out God’s purpose for our lives. We are called to use the gifts and talents God has given us to make a difference in this world, but if we don’t break free from shame and unworthiness, we will never be able to fully accomplish what He created us to do.
When Jesus exchanged our sin for His righteousness on the cross, He made us brand new. Who we were before has no bearing on who we are now. We are God’s children, wholly forgiven, covered by grace, empowered to do great work for His glory. This alone should inform our identity. The voice of shame that contradicts that truth is simply a lie.
Throughout this Easter week, remember what God says about you, His child, and take captive any thought that doesn’t align with His Word. Jesus came so that we may have life to the full. Throw off shame, and pursue the fulfillment of your divine purpose!
About this Plan
When we celebrate Easter, we celebrate the greatest triumph in history. Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, He forever defeated the power of sin and the grave, and all their resulting side effects, and He chose to share that victory with us. This Easter week, let’s dive into some of the strongholds He conquered, reflect on the fight He fought for us, and praise Him as our Banner of Victory.
