Six Days With SpurgeonSample
John 17:17 "Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth."
To sanctify someone involves the process of regeneration. It means to make new, clean, pure and set apart. The Holy Spirit’s role in our hearts, mind and soul is to usher in the full manifestation of the “new creation” we are in receiving Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This work of the Spirit begins upon our new birth. The process starts from the start of our spiritual life itself. But the continuation of that process takes place in two distinct ways.
The first way includes the subduing (or lessening) of our fleshly desires that exist contrary to God’s revealed will. As the life of God places within us a well of water springing up into everlasting life, we are to discover the act of tapping into that fresh water as our source – rather than seeking alternate sources that only corrupt or taint. This is carried out on an every day basis through a consistency in commitment and a persevering faith. As a result of the preserving nature of the Spirit in us, you and I are able to continue in a full experience of grace. This causes us to abound in good works to the praise and glory of God.
Ultimately, grace in us culminates a life of wholeness and perfection when we reach the eternal state of glory beyond this earth. We will be caught up to dwell with holy beings at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
