Read To Me Daily Semester 2

DAY 15 OF 86

DEUTERONOMY 7-8:
Yesterday in Deuteronomy we heard Moses repeating the 10 Commandments and pleading with the people that they remain faithful in obeying all the commands and regulations the Lord gave. The reading ended with an important statement to remember when considering the difference between the old and new covenants:

NLT: 6:25 “For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the LORD our God has given us.’”

PSALM 53:
The psalm for today, Psalm 53, is another Psalm that is quoted in the New Testament, and therefore, often quoted in general. This is a tell-it-like-it-is psalm, not a sweet and flowery poem.

ACTS 9b:
In the first half of Acts chapter 9,  we heard most of the story of Saul's dramatic conversion on the road to Damascus.

Let's pray together.
Our holy and awesome God, how we thank You for your Word. Oh, make us like an olive tree growing in your house! And to me, that means that we are established, and able to stay in your house, and that You will use our fruit in the worship offered to You in that place. So we pray as David wrote, “I trust in your constant love forever and ever. I will always thank You, God, for what You have done. In the presence of your people, I will proclaim that You are good.” Lord, first of all, I ask that you would help us to keep the commandments that you have given to us— the ones that Moses repeated, the Ten Commandments. The one that Moses insisted on was that we not have any other gods except You. In our age, Lord, our false gods becomes wealth, and our own power and prestige. We love to worship those things, and we forget You. Lead us away from this! Lord protect us from this kind of idolatry! Give us wealth only in proportion to our ability to give it back to You and to your work. Father, we know people like Doeg, the Edomite, and others like Saul of Tarsus, who persecuted the church. Lord, you will certainly judge those like Doeg. For the few special ones who will be like Saul who became Paul, we pray that we might be like Ananias, that we might place our hands on such a one and pray for him, that You would cause the scales to fall from his eyes. We will always thank You, our God, for what You have done. In the presence of your people, we will proclaim that you are good!
