Bloom: Fresh Devotionals For Girls Part Two

DAY 2 OF 7

Oh, Brother!

Do you have any siblings? I have one younger brother who is three years younger than me. My husband also has one younger brother. Siblings are a wonderful gift from God because you get to share life and family memories in a special way, but I can assure you that siblings don’t always “dwell in unity.” Family members see each other at their best, but also at their worst. That’s what makes dwelling in unity difficult.

Families also go through different seasons and transitioning from one season to the next can be hard. When siblings are born, you move up in school, or when a sibling moves out on their own, those are all big changes for the family to process.

But those struggles and changes aren’t too big for God. I would encourage you to regularly pray for your siblings, especially during a time of change, and make it your goal to treat them like the best friends they can be. You just might be surprised to gain a new friend.

What about me?

In a journal or on a note on your phone, list out one or two things that you are grateful for about your siblings. You can also record prayers for them: for help in school, coming to know the Lord, for them to find good friends, for your relationship. Keep track of how the Lord answers those prayers in the coming months and years.
