Be Still and Wait
Psalms 37:7 "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!"
You don’t need a long list of do’s and don’ts to make it in your Christian life. The Christian life is much more simple and direct than that. In Psalm 37:7 David summed it up like this: “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when [people] succeed in their ways. . . .”
It’s easy to get riled up when others look like they’re doing better than you are. It’s easy to get disappointed when your life seems to be on hold, always waiting for God’s promises to come to pass in your life. If anyone knew anything about waiting, it was David. He gave us two pieces of advice to help us make it through the waiting: Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for Him. Be still and wait. Stop and listen. Pause and breathe.
You might be tempted to fix your situation and position yourself just right. But you don’t need to do that. Simply stop and be still; then wait for God to unfold His will in your life. When it comes to advice that will help you make it, it doesn’t get any better than this.
Question:
What aspects of God’s character make it easier for us to be still and wait instead of panicking and comparing ourselves to others?
