Meaningful Work Part II
On day one I mentioned a new report called “Meaning and Purpose at Work,” highlighted in a recent Harvard Business Review article. These researchers quantified the importance of meaningful work not only to employees, but also to employers.
Employees with meaningful work take two fewer days off per year and work one additional hour per week. In addition, job satisfaction and productivity increases result in an additional $9,078 company benefit per worker, per year.
Finally, employees who find purpose in their work have job tenures 7.4 months longer than employees who find work lacking in meaning.
Psalm 78:72 teaches about King David, “So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them with his skillful hands.”
Providing employees with meaningful work is being a Shepherd who guides with skillful hands.
