Depressed To Deep Rest In God Sample
Defeating Depression
We stay awake late at night and the silence is loud, it's even more overwhelming when negative, hateful thoughts bombard our hearts. It can become a vicious cycle if it's not dealt with. Have you ever lost sleep or even lost your appetite to eat? I've been there. Saying things to yourself like:
Why am I here?
Why doesn't anyone see me or hear me?
I'm never going to be the husband/wife I use to be.
Why am I still single?
I'm never going to be happy again.
I hate myself.
I just want to give up.
Life is starting to get hopeless.
You may be suffering in silence, but God isn't silent in your suffering. A yearning cry is continually reaching out to you from the heart of God. He's reminding you that you're not stuck unless you want to be. He's inviting you to join Him on the amazing journey He has for you.
"Let go, and come here" He calls. Today, what are you waiting for?
The antidote for depression is found in one place. "In your presence there is fullness of joy."
Not in a job title.
Not in a perfect family.
Not when I get a boyfriend/girlfriend.
Not in a new car nor in a new born.
Interestingly not in a Starbucks cup or in a Chick-Fil-A crispy club...
Caramel latte is bae, and who doesn't love Christian chicken? I can't get enough. However, absolutely nothing at all on this planet, or out of it - can compare to the indescribable, incomparable, presence of God.
P.R.A.Y
- PRESENCE: The presence of God will always be greater than your greatest performance, possessions, platforms, and any other earthly prize that comes to mind. Your joy - starts and ends in God's presence alone.
- REST: Weary? Burden? its okay to take Jesus up on His offer of rest. It never expires.
- ATTENTION: Pause. Not just for the sake of it. Pause to prepare yourself to pay attention to God. Give Him your full, undivided attention.
- YEARN: Prayer is a sign of your love for God. We can't claim to love God if we never speak to Him. If you love someone, you'll yearn to speak with them. The same principle applies to your relationship with God.
