DAY 3 OF 13

Day 3 | LOVE

If you’re talking about little kids or people who are nice to you, or people who love you back, then of course, we can love them easily, right? That’s love we can shout about! Unfortunately, it’s a little harder than that… we’re called to more.

What we’re called to is love for the down and out. The people who really don’t even like us. People who aren’t nice.  The creepy people. People who are hateful.  People who have absolutely nothing to give in return. People who don’t love themselves, much less anyone else.

Out of all we’re commanded to do, love is at the top of the list. The scripture says we’ll be known by one thing -- our love.

We’re called to an unconditional, genuine, never-expecting-anything kind of love.

That’s love.

Let’s think about love.

Think about a specific time in your life when you felt loved.

What makes you feel loved?

How do you express your love to others?

Who are the people in your life that are easy to love?

Who are the ones that are hard to love?  Why?

Jesus didn’t just say He loved us, He actually gave His life for us.
What can you do to change your actions toward love?

The first part of Colossians 3:14 says, “most of all, let your love guide your life…” (tlb)   How different would you be if you let love guide everything you do and say?

“If we love God, we will do whatever he tells us to.  And he has told us from the very first to love each other.”  2 John 1:6 (tlb)

As you journal through this section, think about specific people you need to love in action.  Write down their names.  List some situations you can make better by showing love.

Ask God to speak to you through scriptures that will show you how much He loves you.  Ask Him to show you how you can love others.

About this Plan

Fresh Fruit

It's reinforced a million different ways. We overcommit and wear independence like a crown, modeling for those watching us that busy is synonymous with success. Isn't it ironic that what we're called to is complete dependence? This walk through the Fruits of the Spirit reminds us that as we totally submit to God, only then will we be stronger and more beautiful.
